SUBJECT MATTER

An article should concern intellectual property in a business context that could include matters of law, accounting, taxes, exploitation, licensing, international issues, valuation, royalties, or financing. It could describe an interesting professional engagement, transaction or notable court case. We seek articles that convey practical opinions, raise critical questions, or that stimulate thinking. If you are in doubt about whether a subject would be acceptable, please contact us.

Each accepted article will be posted to this website and/or published together with a short biographical sketch of the author.

Article length is flexible, but should be approximately 2,000 words or less. We are not looking for long, scholarly articles, though authors are welcome to refer the reader to such works or references in order to give the reader the opportunity to augment his or her knowledge.

One reason for this short length is that we want to encourage professional authors who are active in their field, as well as students, both of whom understandably have limited time for writing activities. We also want to encourage the availability of useful yet meaningful IP references and we want to promote the art of concise, clear writing.

ACCEPTANCE

Acceptance of an article will be governed exclusively by our judgment, perhaps augmented by consultation with other experts, as we deem necessary. Our decision will be final.

We will accept articles previously published as long as the author provides permission from the copyright holder.

Authors of an accepted article will be asked to sign a statement giving IPMi the right to post it on this website and to reprint the work or excerpt of it in our publication Licensing Economics Review.

Authors submit articles with the understanding that they may be later downloaded by website viewers. We will caution website viewers to respect the copyrights of the original author, but cannot guarantee that compliance.

Authors retain the copyright for their works and are free to publish their articles elsewhere.
